RAID configuration utility for DL380 server

RAID configuration utility for DL380 server

Before installing Linux first it is necessary to configure the RAID controller to create Logical Devices with all the physical disk drives present in the machine.

The following scenario presents the steps to create Logical Devices on HP DL380 G6 server.

1) Reboot the machine

2) Wait until the following screen is displayed and press F8. If external disk storage exists then repeat this process for the second controller (P411).

3) The following screen will be displayed

4) Display LDs by selecting “View Logical Drive”. The following screen appears displaying the logical drives of current configuration.

5) If no LDs are displayed go to step step 7(Create LDs).
If the requested configuration is different then delete LDs (Step 6)

6) Delete LDs

Select again “Delete Logical Drive” and repeat steps 6 for all the remaining Logical dives.

7) Create LDs

The following screen will appear (this is just an example). In order to create an LD check the disks (left side X) that you want to assign to the LD and select the corresponding RAID configuration. Repeat this step for each LD.

8.) Create Raid

9) Exit the Array Configuration Utility by pressing
